Sarah Paton

Sarah is a mother of three, grandmother of two, works as a doctor in breast cancer medicine, and part-time artist.

Drawing, painting and making have been the backdrop of a life of study and serves as both creative outlet and mindfulness.

Sarah’s limited art practice includes abstraction, contemporary and portrait, working thus far with acrylics, pencil and pen. Her self-taught techniques produce pieces that can begin without plan but evolve through trial-and-error and a consequence of what she feels or sees, reflecting emotion, humanity, a story.

Sarah work has always been private.

The only competition she’s entered was The Lester Portrait Prize, and in 2023 with her first self-portrait, “Memento Mori”, was both shortlisted and awarded the highly commended prize.

Sarah feels humbled to be a member of WA Portrait artists and her plan is to devote more time as an evolving artist.
