Roderick Anderson​
​
Roderick Anderson is a largely self taught artist based in Perth, Western Australia.
​
He graduated from the University of Western Australia majoring in Classics.
​
He has painted in Perth since the mid 1960s and exhibited in numerous group exhibitions and been a winner of the Joondalup Art Prize.
​
He also studied Fine Arts at WAIT and attended drawing courses at Canberra, Claremont, and Perth Technical Colleges.
​
He participated in a portrait painting workshop at the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto, Canada in 2016 and studied portrait painting techniques with Robin Eley at the Art Academy in Adelaide in 2018.
​
His varied career includes eight years as the Curator of the Robert Holmes a Court Art Collection; six years at the Art Gallery of Western Australia and was its first Registrar of Collections; an Art Critic for the Western Mail Newspaper; and an art adviser and consultant to the Western Australian State government. He also served as a Member of the Perth Zoological Gardens Board overseeing many aspects of the design of the Zoo Masterplan, and as a Member of the Western Australian Museum Board.

Roderick was also a founding member of the Western Australian Maritime Heritage Association. A long time specialised model boat builder, he has a model on display in the Western Australian Maritime Museum.

He works mainly in oil paints, in a non-abstract and vaguely traditional manner.
