Natalie De Rozario

Natalie de Rozario’s practice is an inquiry into cultural identity, legacy, and belonging.
Grounded in portraiture and working primarily with charcoal, she navigates the
complexities of being a second-generation Anglo-Burmese in Australia.
Her work examines how her lineage and context has shaped and continues to evolve her sense of self. In her recent surreal portrait explorations, she aims to represent the deconstruction and reconstruction of cultural identity, challenging the tensions between inherited narrative and diasporic experience.
She has completed a Bachelor of Arts (Art & Design Studies) from Curtin University in 2014, studied art at Kingston University, London, won the City of Canning Resident Art Award in 2022, and has been a finalist in several awards, including the 2023 Lester Prize, the Town of Claremont Art Awards 2021, the City of Belmont Art Awards 2021,
and the South Perth Emerging Artist Award 2019.
